Kiawah Island Fishing Report
Summer 2010
Summer is a good time to get out fishing on the island and surrounding waterways. The best luck will typically come early in
the morning or late in the day as the weather cools. Our local fish will all be very active in the next few months
as they search for food. Spotted sea trout can be caught along marsh edges and oyster bars using popping corks and 1/4
oz DOA shrimp or with curlytail grubs. Red drum can be caught using the same set up above, but lures such as jerk baits
and spinnerbaits can be effective as well. Flounder are very active during the summer months and the best success will
come using mud minnows and finger mullet slowly trolled or drifted along the bottom in creek mouths and along the edges of oyster
bars. Good luck fishing and
let us know how you do.
