Location: Route is 18.2 miles long and covers most of Kiawah Island
Participants: Jim Jordan (TOKI), Aaron Given (TOKI), William
Oakley
Notes: A total of 92 deer were seen during this 2 night survey, including 25 bucks, 32 does, 7 fawns,
and 28 that were unidentified. The overall density of 53 deer per square mile is within management goals. Other
notable sightings included 4 bobcats (1 with a GPS collar) and 2 collared does from a previous research project. One
of the collared does (Blue 11) was captured as an adult in 2002, making her at least 12 years old.
